What is the difference between light and darkness according to scripture?

According to the gospel of John, "
God is light; in Him there is no darkness".
“This then is the message which we have
heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no
darkness at all, 6 If
we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do
not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the
light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the
blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." KJV
John called God,
"Light". In other words God is the one who illuminates and radiates
energy; He is the creator and source of everything.
Darkness is referred to as sin. Dallas
Willard states: "Almost all evil deeds and intents begin with the
thought that they can be hidden by deceit." The kingdom of evil is built
on lies, secrets, and darkness. It requires the absence of light to survive. So,
light
exposes what is hidden in darkness and provides the
energy needed for the giving and sustaining of life.
In the beginning darkness
was upon the face of the earth...(Genesis 1:2) The Spirit of the Lord
provides light (power)...physical energy for the development of all life, and spiritual
direction (order) toward and in obedience to God's Word. Jesus Christ
(the word) brings light to our hearts and expels the darkness. In John
12:46 Jesus says, "I [Jesus] have come into the world as a light, so
that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness (NIV)”. When we believe in and accept Jesus Christ in our lives
darkness gives way to the light. (John 15). This includes
everything from the darkness of human sin to the dark power of the devil.
THERE
IS NO DARKNESS IN JESUS AT ALL! II Cor. 5:21.
God
the father allowed His son Jesus Christ to be crucified on the cross for OUR
sins. The darkness of the cross could not hold Him, because HE NEVER SINNED. John
10:18. In
this way we are assured of God's total authority over sin and its corrupting
nature. God's light is shed upon the darkness of all sin, allowing human beings
the opportunity to escape the dark grip of sin for the light of God's truth and
love. This is why (and how) "the blood of Jesus purifies us from all
sin (1 John 1:7)." Today if you have not surrendered you life to Christ, you
are still living in the darkness.
Allow Him Jesus) into your heart today and GIVE WAY TO THE LIGHT!
